HBTU is a peptide coupling agent for peptide synthesis. It has also been used in standard Fmoc-based solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) protocol.

Recent studies show that crystal as well as solution structure of this coupling agent is a guanidinium N-oxide and not an uronium compound; Coupling reagent for peptide synthesis; advantages are: very low racemization, simple reaction conditions, very short reaction time, and high yields.

Hydroxybenzotriazole (abbreviated HOBt) is an organic compound that is a derivative of benzotriazole. It is a white crystalline powder, which as a commercial product contains some water (~11.7% wt as the HOBt monohydrate crystal). Anhydrous HOBt is explosive.

It is mainly used to suppress the racemization of single-enantiomer chiral molecules and to improve the efficiency of peptide synthesis.

1-Hydroxy-7-azabenzotriazole (HOAt) is a triazole used as a peptide coupling reagent. It suppresses the loss of chirality.

HOAt has a melting point between 213 and 216 degrees Celsius.  As a liquid, it is transparent and without any color.
